THE aRT OF HAIR. INC. was established in 2003 by, MICHELLE IORIO Master Hair Artist since 1996, and Color Expert for Schwarzkopf Professional. Michelle has experienced great success in her previous locations in Cornwall, and as expected, THE aRT OF HAIR has flourished even more at the Historic Newburgh Waterfront. Michelle and her company will be celebrating this May, her 3 year anniversary at 12 Front Street.

Michelle is also thrilled that recently, Master Stylist PAUL MISARTI, joined Michelle's artistic team. The talented Paul Misarti comes to us from Westchester County, and in his career he has worked in NYC, California, and Florida. Paul has a deep passion for cutting hair, and has worked with the best in the indusrty, including John Sahag. During his career Paul felt compelled to spread his knowledge to eager stylists, so he worked as a Platform Artist at various hair shows. He has that Edward Scissorhands vibe when he cuts hair, and he truly is an artist. Paul is a Dry Cutting Specialist, who has 22 years of experience in knowing which styles look best for each individual's face shape and features. Paul doesn't just cut the hair, he scultps the hair. He has experience with all types of textures, from ultra fine to super coarse, and from straight to curly ringlets. Paul understands how the hair moves and which cutting techniques work best for each individual's hair type. You can view some of Paul's work on our facebook fanpage.

THE aRT OF HAIR INC. received Best Dry Cutting Salon
in the Hudson Valley!
Here is what Hudson Valley Magazine has to say...
It’s more than just a clever name: The professional staff at this chic salon on the Newburgh waterfront considers hair to be a medium for creating art — new styles aren’t just cut, they’re sculpted. And owner Michelle Iorio, a master hair artist and technical advisor for hair product specialists Schwarzkopf Professional, has mastered this art by putting her own spin on traditional dry cutting. This technique was supposedly pioneered by stylist John Sahag in the 1970s, and allows hair to be cut and styled according to its natural shape. It’s more time-consuming, and dry hair is not always as easy to manage, but dry cutting is hugely popular — especially for curly or unruly hair — because it allows the client to see exactly what the new cut will look like. Housed in a brick building that was formerly an 1800s meatpacking warehouse, the interior of this salon is just as chic and edgy as its cuts.
